One of the most common fabrics available everywhere is the flannel fabric. Not only is one of
the most suited fabric for different clothing choices like pajamas, shirts, blankets, it is also a nice fabric to
have at your home to help keep you and your family warm. For babies is a must and I highly recommend getting one in
on-line fabric stores or any other local shop where you might find these cotton fabrics available.
How To Use Flannel in Quilts
Here below you will find many tips and a small guide on how to use flannel material to quilt your clothes. I
will be adding more tips as we go along, but if you have anything that you would like to add, maybe a good image
that you have found on the web or maybe a good YouTube's video that you believe it will help many others that might
visit this website, then please, do not hesitate contacting me. I will gladly take a look on what you have and if I
find it appropriate, I will post it here - or create a new post for it entirely - and give you credits for sending
me the material.
Flannel Fabric for Quilting
First of all, you may need to find some good stores where you can buy some good flannel fabric to use in your quilts. Some recommended stores are PicoTextiles and
FashionFabricsClub. Look out for these on-line fabric stores and I'm sure you will find some good fabrics for
sale over there. Additionally, you may check with your local reseller store to compare prices on quilt fabric
online. Whichever you choose, make sure you are getting top-notch, high quality fabrics that will help sewing a
better quilt. Wholesale flannel fabric is also another great choice if you require massive amounts of
fabrics.
One thing that you must keep in mind when looking for flannel fabric for sale is that these fabrics
usually shrink at different percentages. So, to ensure that your quilt will "withstand the test of time", pre-wash
it first to avoid any surprises that might come in the future.
Flannel Quilting Fabric
Flannel fabrics are a great, warm and comfortable fabric to use for your quilting. Be careful since you may get
some poor quality fabrics when you buy - either on-line or in your local shop. Check it thoroughly before using it
for quilting. Also, always leave some space for the seam. Flannels can fray quite a lot if you are not careful, so
it is recommended that you 3/8" or something similar for your seams in your flannel.
Plaid Flannel Fabric
You may choose to use plaid flannel for your efforts. There is plenty of option on where you can buy them like
here on Amazon or any of the stores recommended above. They usually sell by the yard and are
made of 100% cotton. Width may vary greatly among flannel fabrics sold throughout different stores so this will
depend on how big you need your fabric to be. If you need an exact amount, check with the manufacturer to find
out which width size they sell their fabric. Amazon for instance, usually has it at 44', so you can use this
size to compare with some other on-line stores that might have fabrics to sale.
